The English concept of the parish as a geographical area informs our sense of mission and responsibility to our community. Our ministry is not only for our campus, but for the Colorado Springs community and beyond. Having a place where all are welcome, where new believers can be brought into the faith, and where loved ones can be given their final rest is vital to the thriving of our community. Your support enables us to maintain our beautiful and historic church, fairly compensate staff who serve in the name of Christ, and gather for worship, fellowship, and mission.
Furthermore, giving is a crucial spiritual discipline that helps us to correctly order our resources towards the work that God is doing in the world. When we do not give, the power and lures of money and all that it represents ensnare us. Generosity is a practice that not only benefits those who are the recipients of your gifts, but it also transforms you in alignment with Jesus Christ who gave himself for the life of the world.

The most important financial need of any church is being able to support the annual budget including caring for our building, maintaining the staff we need for vibrant ministries, and serving our wider community.
Sometimes called a “pledge,” we encourage and invite those who wish to support our ministries to let us know how much they intend to give for the year. A pledge is not a contract: it can be changed depending on life circumstances. There is no guilt or shame in not being able to give as much as hoped—life happens, and we understand that. When people who intend to support the church tell us how much they plan to give, it allows us to make a more faithful and responsible budget, as we cannot plan for what we are not able to count. Pledging is also a sign of faith and trust in the provision of God and a commitment to the Church. A pledge also requires you to have a household budget, which is a good and holy discipline.
You can contribute towards annual giving on whatever basis works for you—weekly, monthly, quarterly, or all at once. Generally speaking, the Church has taught that a “tithe” is a good amount to consider. It is not that 10% is a magic number, but it is a significant one. Giving at that level helps us to evaluate our priorities and budgets, and it guides us in having a holy and disciplined relationship with money.
A goal might be giving 5% of your income to Grace & Saint Stephen’s and 5% to other organizations and causes. If it takes you some time to get to that level as you work to bring your budget into order, you might start by giving 2.5% to the Church and 2.5% to other organizations that you want to support.

Remembering Grace & Saint Stephen’s in your will or trust is a tremendous gift that allows your support of the parish to continue well into the future. Your financial or estate planner can discuss the best options for doing so given your particular situation. No legacy gift is too large or too small to make a lasting impact.
From time to time, the parish engages in fundraising efforts for special projects, ministries, and campus needs.
